The Flaming Lips are an american rock band from san francisco, the group was formed in 1976 by then-alumnus and self-taught musician friends of then-nothing, chris hillman and jim thetaurus. Thetaurus was soon after linked with the then-new hollywoodry, which led to hillmantag, eventually leading to the creation of The Flaming Lips. The group's first album was released in 1978 and the group's first north american tour was announced in 1980. The flaming lips went on to release two more albums and tour through the 1990s.
